LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::: Mrs. Sarah Steele Knight, age 79, died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born March 17, 1929 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Martin A. Steele and Geneva Snipes Steele and was the wife of the late Tommy Cleveland Knight, Sr. Mrs. Knight retired from Springs Industries - Customer Service Center, was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school and the GA's, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.Mrs. Knight is survived by 3 sons, Tom Knight, Jr. and friend Sherry Knight and David Tink Knight and his wife Loren both of Lancaster, and Michael Todd Knight and his wife Tina of Newberry, 2 daughters, Jo Ann Knight Hinson and her husband Earl of Lincolnton, NC and Becky Knight of Lancaster, and a friend of the family Rex Robbins, 4 brothers, Martin Steele, Billy Clyde Steele, and Jim Steele all of Lancaster and Frank Steele of Albemarle, NC, a sister, Judy S. Humphries of Lancaster, 9 grandchildren, Tommie Knight III, Crystal K. Campbell, Ricky Knight, Blake Knight, Brandon Knight, Dillon Knight, and Anna, Devin, and Cash Knight, and 3 great grandchildren, Harrison, Mason, and Wes Knight.Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Knight, a granddaughter, Leigh Hinson, 4 sisters, June Hair, Viola Hallman, Rettie Mae Hartis, and Mary Carnes, 8 brothers, Joe E. Steele, Herman Steele, Dudley Steele, Reece Steele, Jeffie Steele, Roy Steele, Chalmers Steele, and Sikes Steele.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Knight will be 2:00 pm, Monday afternoon, January 5, 2009 at Camp Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Mellichamp and Rev. Don Waldrop with burial to follow in the church cemetery.The Family of Mrs. Knight will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday evening, January 4, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or the Lupus Foundation of America, South Carolina Chapter, PO Box 1427, Easley, SC 29641.
