LANCASTER, SC ~ Sarah Riddle Dotson, beloved Mother and Mawmaw of Lancaster SC peacefully joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday December 19, 2023. Sarah was a devout Christian, loving mother and wife. Sarah was born November 2, 1923, and raised in Decatur, Alabama. She relocated to South Carolina as a young woman where she met and married her husband of 61 Years, Cecil Dotson in 1944, at the height of World War II. After the conclusion of the war, Sarah and Cecil eventually settled in Lancaster, SC where they started and raised their family. Sarah and Cecil lived together in Lancaster throughout their lives. Sarah was a teacher for many years and earned her Master's Degree from Winthrop University. During her career in education, she helped to enrich the lives of her many students. Her teaching abilities transcended from the classroom to the Sunday School room where she loved to teach the word of God that was so precious to her. She enjoyed crafting, sewing and other hobbies but her favorite time was spent with her many family members. She lived a long fulfilling life as a faithful servant of God, and she is deeply missed by many.

Sarah is survived by her son Mark Dotson of Lancaster, SC; two daughters, Susan Puckett of Huntersville, NC, and Dianne Frazier of Bunker Hill, WV; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Dotson; and her siblings.

Visitation will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Sarah's home Church, First United Methodist Church, Lancaster, SC. Funeral service will begin at 2:00pm. Burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
