A Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Sara will be 11:00 am Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Lancaster Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Steve Anglin.
LANCASTER, SC ~ Sara Williams Stevens, age 93, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at her home. She was born on March 31, 1933, in Kershaw County, SC, a daughter of the late Henry E. Williams and the late Ruth Horton Williams, and was the beloved wife of the late J.W. Stevens, Sr.
Sara will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren beyond measure. She was happiest at home, where she enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and caring for those she loved. Her favorite meal to make was cubed steak and gravy, and she never turned down her son’s chocolate cake.
Sara loved watching her cowboy movies time and time again. Over the years, she enjoyed sitting back and watching her husband, J.W., Sr., cut grass. In her younger years, she was an avid horse rider who loved being outdoors. Sara also dedicated many years of service to Comporium, retiring from the cable outage department.
Sara is survived by her three sons, J.W. Stevens, Jr. (Sylvia), Roger Stevens (Penny), and Mark Stevens; a son-in-law, Paul Hinson; twelve adored grandchildren; twenty two adored great-grandchildren; her brother, Jimmy Williams; three sisters, Joyce Coleman, Sybil Tapia, and Ann Williams; and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Stevens, Sr.; her daughter, Gail Hinson; her parents, Henry and Ruth Williams; two brothers, Gary and Kemper Williams; and three sisters, Edna Owens, Evelyn Banks, and Carolyn Webb.
