LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Sara Ella McDaniel Fleming, age 69, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at MUSC Health-Charleston. She was born May 13, 1951 in Chester, SC, a daughter of the late John Wilson McDaniel and Sarah Shirley McDaniel. She was the wife of Jim Fleming. Mrs. Fleming was a graduate of Chester High School and Winthrop University. She retired from the Lancaster County School District having taught for 30 years. Mrs. Fleming was a member of First Baptist Church and loved her church family. She was a member of the Rose Calder circle and was very active in the Angel tree program.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jim Fleming; two daughters, Rebecca Fleming of Lancaster, and Kathryn Fleming Casserly and her husband, Joe of Easley, SC; two grandsons, Jack Edward Casserly and Reed Wilson Casserly; a brother, John Wilson McDaniel, Jr. and his wife, Marty of Chester; a sister, Ann McDaniel Sanders and her husband, Billy also of Chester; a brother-in-law, Ken Fleming and his wife, Joy of Chester; and several nieces and a nephew.
She will be remembered as a friend to everyone, a devoted wife, a loving mother and a grandmother who was always ready for an adventure with her two grandsons.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Fleming will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Lancaster officiated by Rev. Randy Hatcher. The family will greet friends following the service. Social distancing will be practiced, and masks are required.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lancaster County Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1296, Lancaster, SC 29721 or the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer at komen.org.
