LANCASTER, SC::::::: Mrs. Sara Ellen Cauthen Williams, age 92, died Monday, March 23, 2015. She was born July 2, 1922 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late James Brumett Cauthen and Marybelle Fleming Cauthen and was the wife of the late Walter Blair Williams. Mrs. Williams retired from Springs Industries and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Myrtle Bowlen Circle and St. Luke Golden Agers. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother, was a member of the Springs Senior Citizens and the WBCC Airstream Club. She enjoyed traveling and traveled all 50 states, all providences in Canada and 10 foreign countries.
Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Barbara Williams Parsons and her husband Gary; a son, Johnny Williams and his wife Marlena; a sister, Louise Gardner; two sister-in-laws, Mary Carnes and Rosemary Cauthen all of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Dianne Faile, Darlene Gantt, Tricia Crenshaw, Tanya Williams and Stuart Parsons; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Williams, four brothers, Odell Cauthen, Clarence Cauthen, Hazel Cauthen and Pascal Cauthen and two sisters, Inez McCorkle and Margaret Beckham.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mrs. Williams will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Luke United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Bill McCown.
The Family will receive friends following the service at the church and suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
