LANCASTER, SC ::::::::::Mr. Samuel Benjamin Cannon, age 72, of 354 South Potter Road, died Monday, October 13, 2008 at his home. He was born July 22, 1936 in Conway, SC, the son of the late Gurley Cannon and Myrtle Singleton Cannon and was the husband of Genevieve Johnson Cannon. Mr. Cannon retired from National Linen Service, served our great country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was of the Baptist faith.Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife, Genevieve Johnson Cannon of the home, a son, Samuel G. Cannon of Lancaster, a daughter, Linda Mackey and her husband Jody of Lancaster, 2 brothers, Bennie Cannon and Kennie Cannon of Conway, 5 sisters, Connie Cannon of Laurinburg, NC, Cynthia, Faye, Terry and Denise, 3 grandchildren, Kelsey Cannon, Kinley Cannon, and Alyssa Mackey. The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mr. Cannon will be 11:00 am Wednesday morning, October 15, 2008 at Lancaster Memorial Park by Rev. Robert Alford with burial to follow. The Family of Mr. Cannon will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday evening, October 14, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Antioch Fire Department, 3015 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
