LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mr. Samuel Max Ballard, age 83, died Sunday, November 23, 2014. He was born May 10, 1931 in Lancaster, the son of the late James Leroy Ballard and Willie Neely Ballard and was the husband of the late Reba Cauthen Ballard. Mr. Ballard retired from Wilson Gas & Oil Company after 46 years of service and was a lifetime member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge. He was a volunteer fireman and helped organize the Belltown Fire Department, loved bird hunting and was a member of Camp Creek United Methodist Church.
Mr. Ballard was survived by a son, Wayne Ballard and his wife Debbie, a daughter, Elaine B. Monroe, a brother, Charles Ballard and his wife Rebecca, two sisters, Margaret Baker and her husband Pierce and Grace Bailey and her husband H. W. all of Lancaster, three grandchildren, Casey Ballard, Bobby D. Monroe II and his wife Sheri, and Thomas J. Monroe and his wife Margaret and a great granddaughter, Madison Monroe.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Ballard will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Dr. Hariss Ricks and Rev. Mike Catoe. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Epworth Children's Home, PO Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250 or a Charity of Choice.
