LANCASTER, SC::::: Mr. Sammy William Funderburk, Jr., age 60, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia. He was born June 13, 1956, the son of Sammie William Funderburk, Sr. and the late Frances Smith Funderburk. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his cat, Calli. Mr. Funderburk was a member of Open Door Fellowship Church, where he served in many capacities including Senior Elder, Usher Coordinator, Deacon, assisted with facility maintenance and served on the finance committee.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his father, Sammie W. Funderburk, Sr.; a sister, Vicki Funderburk of Columbia; and a special cousin, Sharon Snipes and her husband, Billy, and their children, Haley and Grayson of Lancaster.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Open Door Fellowship by Rev. John Cahill. The family will receive friends from 2:00 -3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Open Door Fellowship, 1941 West Meeting Street, Lancaster, SC 29720. Following the service, the family will host a reception in the church fellowship hall.
