LANCASTER, SC ::::::::::: Retired secretary and book-keeper of the former Stogner Motor Company, Ruth Baker Gooch, age 87, died Thursday July 14, 2011 at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care in Lexington. She was born September 2, 1923 in Kershaw County, a daughter of the late Vernon E. Baker and Janie Twitty Baker and was the wife of the late Joe Thomas Gooch. Since 2007, she had resided at the SC Presbyterian Community in Lexington SC and was a member of Douglas Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Gooch is survived by 2 brothers, James R. Baker of Skipwith, VA, and Norman R. Baker of Lancaster, a sister, Iva B. Bost of Lexington, and several nieces and nephews and extended family.Mrs. Gooch was preceded in death by a son, Joel Thomas Gooch who died in 1981. The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mrs. Gooch will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Douglas Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Family of Mrs. Gooch will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service and the family suggests memorials to Douglas Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 2325 Sunday Place Lancaster, SC 29720 or to the Presbyterian Communities of SC - Chapel Fund, 700 DaVega Drive, Lexington SC 29073.
