LANCASTER, SC ::::::::::: Mrs. Ruby Lee Thomas Usher, age 87, of 1855 Grace Avenue, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born November 14, 1921 in Anson County, NC, the daughter of the late Japhos Seeborn "Bud" Thomas and Martha Jane "Mattie" Williams Thomas and was the wife of the late Walter Lee Usher. Mrs. Usher retired from J.P. Stevens in Great Falls and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Usher was survived by 2 sons, Kenneth Usher and his wife Rose of Albany, GA and Rev. Eddie Usher and his wife Julie of Lancaster, 5 daughters, Louise Casey, Betty Cox and her husband Lloyd, Sissy Whitley and her husband Zeb, and Cathy Fant all of Lancaster, and Carol Sowell and her husband John Lee of Marshville, NC, 13 grandchildren, Becky Broughton, Cindy Jenkins, Charles Cauthen, Johnny Sowell, Tonya Phillips, Teresa Irmons, Ricky Cox, Michael Cox, Robbie Usher, Lanette Garris, Dana White, Lawanda Faile, and Joni Fant, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.Mrs. Usher was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Carl Thomas, Frank Thomas, Clyde Thomas, Arnold Thomas, George Thomas and Lloyd Thomas and 2 sisters, Alba Walters and Lona Helms.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Usher will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Sherwood Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Anglin and Rev. Curtis Cameron with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mrs. Usher will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions to Sherwood Baptist Church, PO Box 813, Lancaster, SC 29721.
