Obituary

CHARLOTTE, NC :::::::::: Mr. Roy J. Preslar, age 95, died Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was born February 3, 1918 in Monroe, NC the son of the late George Washington Preslar and Maggie Broome Preslar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Glenn, Holle, Bill and Neil and 4 sisters, Zelma, Mildred, Sadie and Ruby.

Mr. Preslar served in World War II as a Captain in the Army Air Force. He retired from Lockheed Martin. After retirement, he worked part time at Hillbilly Produce in Charlotte until he was 89 years old. Mr. Preslar was a member of Plaza Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He enjoyed being with his family, playing bridge and watching Duke Basketball.

Mr. Preslar is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Sarah Plyler Preslar and two sons, Carl Kenneth Preslar and his wife Elizabeth of Lancaster, SC and Dennis Lee Preslar and his wife Sally of Raleigh, NC. Survivors also include 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mr. Preslar will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte conducted by Rev. Mike Burgess.

The Family of Mr. Preslar will receive friends immediately following the service and in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Plaza Presbyterian Church, 2304 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC 28205 or Zion United Methodist Church, 1665 Zion Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
