LANCASTER, SC – George Leroy Ballard- known to most as "Roy" or "Lefty" passed away on July 4, 2024, at his home. He was 77 years old.

Roy was born on September 12, 1947, in Rock Hill, SC, he was the son of the late Nora Lee Mirell and the late Paul Defoix Ballard. He was raised in Rock Hill, SC until he was about 17 years old, and he made his way to Lancaster, SC. Roy proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He received several medals which included the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifle (M-16), Sharpshooter Rifle (M-14), and Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed at Fort Jackson, SC & Fort Lee, VA. Roy became Hejaz Shriner in 1981.

After Roy served his time in the Army, he worked at Duracell/ Procter & Gamble until he retired. Through the years you could find him riding his motorcycle with his Iron Eagle family and other times he would be at Cedar Creek fishing and drinking a cold Schlitz. Roy was a beloved friend to so many and a brother to most. He loved feeding his fish in the pond, being home before dark to feed his chickens, guinea and his dogs.

He is survived by his brother, David Ballard of Rock Hill, SC; and a sister, Brenda Ballard of Chesnee, SC. Roy was grateful for his special family, Brad & Stacey Munn of Little River, SC (Nicholas & Natalee).

The Celebration of Life for Roy will be held Saturday July 13, 2024, from 12PM-3PM at Frog's Bar & Grill, 2063 Great Falls Hwy, Lancaster, SC.
