LANCASTER, SC::::::::::: Mrs. Rosetta Smith Rushing, age 93, died Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was born July 31, 1921 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Floyd Smith and Mamie Helms Smith and was the wife of the late Johnny Wilson Rushing. Mrs. Rushing and her late husband were the retired owners of Camp Creek Grocery. She was a previous member of the Senior Citizens and Eastern Star and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rushing is survived by a son, James W. Rushing and his wife Brenda, two daughters, Janice Rushing Hinson and her husband Steve and Sheila Rushing Thompson and her husband Scott all of Lancaster, a brother Clyde Smith of Lancaster, six grandchildren, Kelly Nunnery, Jennifer Newman, Michele Joplin, Jami Rushing Thompson, Ryan Thompson Jones, and Robbie Hensley and eight great grandchildren, Bree Joplin, Zane Joplin, Karli Nunnery, Addison Rushing, Carter Nunnery, Jaxton Thompson, Hunter Hensley and Harley Hensley.
Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Smith and John Henry Smith and three sisters, Jackie Steele, Elizabeth Small and Janie Stogner.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Rushing will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Sean Joplin. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The Family of Mrs. Rushing will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and suggest memorial contributions be made to White Oak Manor, Patient Activity Fund, 253 Craig Manor Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Regency Hospice, 420 S. Herlong Avenue, Suite 104, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
