CHARLOTTE, NC:::::::::::Ms. Rosemary Smith Tipton, age 62, died Friday, June 28, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born May 21, 1951 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Edward Smith and Helen McManus Smith. Ms. Tipton was an insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance in Charlotte and was of the Baptist faith.

Ms. Tipton is survived by a son, Andy Benfield and his wife Diana of Lancaster, a daughter, Anna Snipes and her husband John also of Lancaster, a brother, Allen Smith and his wife Julie of High Point, NC, two sisters, Tricia Buchanan and her husband Clyde of Fort Mill and Cathy Smith Bowers of Tryon, NC, and four grandchildren, Hunter and Olivia Snipes and Luke and Fisher Benfield.

Ms. Tipton was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Smith and Paul Smith.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Ms. Tipton will be 3:00 pm, Sunday afternoon, June 30, 2013 at The Chapel of Hartley Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Dr. Brian Saxon.

The Family of Ms. Tipton will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 - 3:00pm, at Hartley-Burgess Funeral Home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lancaster County Relay for Life, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
