HEATH SPRINGS, SC::::Mrs. Rose Horton Mackey, age 73, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at her home. She was born February 6, 1943 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late E. B. Horton, Jr. and Mary Ada Hough Horton and was the wife of Ronnie Mackey. Mrs. Mackey was previously employed with Barnett Family Practice. She enjoyed the mountains and had a great love for flowers. She cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Mackey was a very active member of Fork Hill Baptist Church serving as Sunday School teacher, Group Life hostess and past treasurer. She and Ronnie were dedicated to serving missions in fifteen countries throughout their life together.

Mrs. Mackey is survived by her husband, Ronnie Mackey; three sons, Stephen Hagins and his wife, Genie of Lancaster, Brian Mackey and his wife, Jeannie of Heath Springs, and Jeffrey Mackey and his fianc, Tammy Trombley of Lancaster; four daughters, Cindy Hagins of Heath Springs, Rhonda Ellis and her husband, Joey of Lancaster, Cathy Meek of Heath Springs and Tammy Calhoun and her husband Curt; two brothers, Larry Franklin Horton of Dillon and Eric Horton and his wife, Randi of Heath Springs; ten grandchildren, Cassie Laney and her husband, Danny, Kristin Bowers and her husband, Tom, Jennifer Eury and her husband, John, Corey Mackey and his wife, Kylee, Austin Mackey, Sealey Mackey, Autry Mackey, Wyatt Mackey, Jason Horton and Jessica Threatt and her husband Brian; and nine great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mackey was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael E. Horton and two great grandchildren, Kathryn Eletrice Mackey and Karsyn Sealey Mackey.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Mackey will be 2:00 pm, Friday, December 9, 2016 at Fork Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Kenny Pittman, Rev. Dale Walters and Dr. Bill Mackey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm Thursday evening, December 8, 2016 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Fork Hill Baptist Church, Chosen Childrens Ministry in Nicaragua, 1125 Fork Hill Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
