CHARLOTTE, NC ~ Rosalyn “Joyce” Sydnor, 88, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 7, 2026. She was born on December 27, 1937, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Alonzo and Frieda (Higgins) Schullo. Joyce attended Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School, graduating in 1955. She enjoyed a remarkable 50+year career in nursing and health care education - caring for patients in general and critical care units. At age 50, she returned to school and completed a graduate degree in Health Care Administration and earned her CDC certification in Infectious Diseases. She guided infectious disease control education programs at several hospitals in the Orlando, FL area. An avid reader and lover of roses, Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Terese (Kevin) Uliano; her sister, Peggy (Jerry) Andrews; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Gary F. Sydnor II and Michael J. Sydnor; her daughter, Michelle Sydnor Lane; her parents; her sister, Kathleen Nowak; and her brothers, Patrick Schullo, Edward Schullo, and Alonzo Schullo Jr. Memorial contributions in Joyce’s honor may be directed to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation or Epilepsy Foundation.
