ZEBULON, NC – Mr. Ronald Dale Donahue, Sr., of Zebulon, NC, peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by his loving family and friends on Wednesday March 20, 2024.
The son of Lemuel and Ida Mae Donahue, Ronald (Ronnie) was born on February 26, 1946, in Jefferson, SC. As a young man, he attended Antioch School in Lancaster, SC and married his sweetheart, Geraldine Aldridge on June 29, 1968. They were blessed with three sons and one daughter: Dale, Scott, Gina, and Daniel. He worked as a security guard at Springs Industries for over 25 years. He and Geraldine attended Hilltop Church in Fuquay-Varina, NC.
Ronnie was a man of few words, yet his wisdom, humor, and strength were known by all who spent time with him. He enjoyed traveling with his family, Geraldine's cooking, classic cars, the beach, watching Westerns and sports (often at the same time), and listening to oldies.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his son, Michael Scott Donahue, his parents, and siblings, Janice, Eddie, Johnny, Mitchell (Peanut), and Cathy Donahue. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Geraldine Donahue; two sons, Ronald Dale Donahue, Jr. (Cindy) of Greer, SC and Jeffrey Donahue of Zebulon, NC; one daughter, Gina (Jonathan) Wisely of Zebulon, NC; a daughter-in-law, Rena Donahue of Lancaster, SC; one brother, Jerry (Nancy) Donahue of Murrells Inlet, SC; two sisters, Dianne (Wayne) Jones of Lancaster, SC, and Pat (Mitchell) Austin of Kershaw, SC; eleven grandchildren: Blaise, Stacey, Wayne, Preston, Chase, Jeremy, Braydon, Blake, Nicolas, Emma, and Benjamin; four great grandchildren: Mason, Raylyn, Gracie, and Riley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
The Celebration of Life Service for Ronnie will be 3:00 pm Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Liberty Freewill Baptist Church, 3026 Camp Creek Road, Lancaster, SC 29720. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, in the church sanctuary.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the prayers, visits, and outpouring of love shown during their time of bereavement.
