LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. Ronald Walker Punk Reid, age 70, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born August 19, 1946 in Lancaster, a son of the late James Walker Reid and Edna Bagley Reid and was the husband of Shirley Cantrell Reid. Mr. Reid retired from Springs Industries after 42 years of service. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School, an avid Gamecock and Nascar fan and Past President of the Lancaster Bassmasters. He played softball in school and also the Industrial League in his younger years. He was a Shriner with the Hejaz Temple and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Reid is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shirley Cantrell Reid; two sons, Chip Henderson and his wife, Julie of Chester and Ronnie Reid and his wife, Cindy of Rock Hill; a daughter, Michelle Taylor and her husband, Wes of Fort Mill; two sisters, Joyce Sowell and Nancy Hayes and her husband, Junior; a sister in law, Carol Reid all of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Michael Reid, Amanda Hubbard and her husband, Jonathan, Brittany Holcomb and her husband, Jonathan, Brandon Henderson, Steffan Walker and his wife, Rebekah and Dakota Walker; two great granddaughters; a great grandson due in May 2017 and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Reid was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jimmy Reid.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Reid will be 3:00 pm Sunday, January 29, 2017 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Chuck Pardue, Rodney Thomas and Perry Schwartz.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 pm Saturday evening, January 28, 2017 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Mackey Family Practice, Heath Springs Medical Staff, Springs Memorial Hospital staff and to the Home Health nurses of Lancaster.
