HEATH SPRINGS, SC – Mr. Roger Dale Catoe, age 62, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026. He was born September 23, 1963, in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late Helen Catoe.
Dale was a proud member of the Lancaster High School Special Education Class of 1985 and was honored as the 2013 Valentine King at Heath Springs Residential Care Center. He found great joy in decorating and celebrating every season and holiday, and he especially looked forward to attending the annual Charlesboro Fourth of July parade. Dale’s loving spirit was larger than life, and his warm personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He enjoyed playing checkers and was known for his competitive nature, never allowing an opponent to let down their guard.
For the past fifteen years, Dale faithfully attended Pleasant Hill Church of God, where he found great joy in worship and fellowship. He loved attending church and was often the first to stand and sing. His family is especially grateful to Rev. Larry Reeves and his wife, as well as Rev. Robbie Taylor and his wife, for their kindness, friendship, and dedication in ensuring Dale always had transportation to church. Their love and support meant so much to him throughout the years.
Dale is survived by his special cousin, John Catoe; many beloved cousins; his dear friend, Ms. Barbara; and the devoted caregivers and cherished friends at Heath Springs Residential Care, who lovingly cared for him and became an extension of his family.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Helen Catoe; and his grandparents Julius and Ethel Catoe.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Dale will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday day, June 3, 2026, at Blackmon Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Robbie Taylor.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the pallbearers for their kindness, support, and service in honoring Dale’s memory: John Catoe, Adam Catoe, Brance Jenkins, Cory Jenkins, Clay Jenkins, and Keith Snipes.
