LANCASTER, SC - Mr. Robert Edward Taylor, 78, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his home.  He was born January 19, 1940 in Lancaster, SC a son of the late Rufus Lester Taylor and Lois Sanders Taylor and was the husband of Martha McAteer Taylor.  He was an avid Gamecock fan, loved working in his yard, and traveling to the beach and Charleston.  Mr. Taylor was a jokester and could make a joke out of anything.  He loved his family and his three dogs, Zeke, Pepper and Skipper.  Mr. Taylor retired from Morrison Textile Machinery Company and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 37 years, Martha Taylor; a son, Jack Smith; a daughter, Debbie Barton and her husband, Jeff; two grandchildren, Tori Barton and Josh Barton; three great grandchildren, DJ, Izzy and Brantley; two sisters-in-law, Dixie Taylor and Freida Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mickey Taylor and Charles Taylor; and two sisters, Mary Jean Ackerman and Martha Ann Taylor.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Taylor will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 5, 2019 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Jimmy Fox. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC.
