INDIAN LAND, SC ~ Mr. Robert "Bob" John Simonelli, age 86, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his home. He was born July 11, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Evelyn Conroy Simonelli and the late John Simonelli and was the husband of Cecilia "Celia" DeSylvia Simonelli. Mr. Simonelli proudly served in The United States Marines Corps for three years. He had a love for bowling, fast cars, racing, riding motorcycles, animals, and watching sports. His favorite sports teams were The New York Mets and The New York Jets. Mr. Simonelli was a pro bowler and that lead to him opening his own Pro Bowling Shop; he was known as "The Legend."  He was the owner of Brooklyn Bowlmart and a partner of Rainbow Lanes Bowling Alley, both in Brooklyn, New York.  Mr. Simonelli was also a commentator for The Staten Island Bowling Club and drove a school bus.  After retirement, Mr. Simonelli worked as a Manager for Home Depot in Saten Island, NY before relocating to South Carolina, where he enjoyed taking care of his landscaping and spending time with his wife and their two cats.  In all his years of working, he never missed a day, no matter how he was feeling.

Mr. Simonelli is survived by his wife of 54 years; Celia Simonelli; his five sons, Robert "Bobby" Simonelli, Jr., Glynn Simonelli (Damaris), John Simonelli, Stephen Simonelli (Denise), and Robert Simonelli; his two daughters, Anita Simonelli (Howard), and Lisa Simonelli; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Simonelli; and his brother, Gerard "Bubba" Simonelli.

A Prayer Service for Mr. Simonelli will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 7, 2023, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home.
