LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mr. Robert Evin Mungo, age 91, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born May 28, 1921 in Kershaw County, the son of the late Lawson Evander Mungo and Bessie Catoe Mungo and was the husband of Sadie Faile Mungo. Mr. Mungo retired from Springs Industries and was the owner of Rob and Rob Used Cars. He was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons and as a Sunday School Teacher and Director for 20 years, and served our great country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Mungo is survived by his wife of 69 years Sadie Faile Mungo of the home, 5 sons, Evin Mungo and wife Pat, Mike Mungo and wife Linda, Robbie Mungo and wife Glenda, Joe Mungo and wife Sandra, and Phillip Mungo and wife Linda all of Lancaster, 6 daughters, Jenny Ellis and husband Russell, Suzanne Workman and husband Eddie, Kay Atkinson and husband Don, Polly Evans and husband Jeff, Rachel Catoe and husband Barry all of Lancaster and Betsy Good of Seabrook Island, a brother, Ray Mungo and wife Joanne of Lancaster, 5 sisters, Loree Pate of Lancaster, Meta Payne of Heath Springs, Peggy Harman and husband Earl of Lancaster, Katherine Dabney of Fort Mill, and Earline Joyner of Lancaster, 22 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren. Mr. Mungo was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Short. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Mungo will be 3:00 pm Friday, June 8, 2012 at Hyde Park Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Darrell Thompson and Rev. Dr. Bert Welch. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Mungo will receive friends from 1:30 - 3:00 pm Friday, June 8, 2012 at Hyde Park Baptist Church Memorial Center and the family suggests memorials to Hyde Park Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, 1898 Flat Creek Road, Lancaster SC 29720.
