FORT MILL, SC::::::Mr. Robert R. "Bobby" McElroy, age 62, died peacefully at home April 23, 2015. He was born in Providence, RI, a son of Mary Gonsalves McElroy and the late Bartholomew McElroy and was the beloved husband of Sharon Farias McElroy. For over 43 years, he was employed at Narragansett Electric in Providence, New England Power, P.G. & E. and Dominion Energy, at Brayton Point and most recently Dominion Energy, Mt. Storm, WV.

Mr. McElroy spent many years enjoying his favorite hobby, fishing. He spent many hours building plastic car models and airbrushing them. He also played in Bowling Leagues and Dart Board Leagues for many years. Donning a Santa suit on Christmas Eve, he would show up at The Ronald McDonald House in Providence to visit the children and would then visit many of his co-worker's children in their homes. He was a member for many years of The Fox Point Boys Club and played in the Harmonica Band. He was a member of the Portuguese Sporting Club, Portuguese American Social Club and a founding member of the First Thirty, Inc. He loved all sports, but enjoyed watching his favorite team, The New England Patriots.

Mr. McElroy is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Farias McElroy, his mother, Mary Gonsalves McElroy, a brother, Keith McElroy and his wife Karen of East Providence, RI a sister, Lynn McElroy of Providence RI, and a step son, Jason Gallant of Indian Land, SC.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. McElroy is 3:00 pm Sunday, April 26, 2015 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Mr. Larry Small. A memorial service will also be held at St. Joseph's Church, 92 Hope Street, Providence, RI at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Sunday at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster and in lieu of flowers, suggest memorial contributions be made to The Fox Point Boys Club, 90 Ives Street, Providence, RI 02906.
