LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::: Mr. Robert Pierce Baker, Sr., age 93, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at White Oak Manor. He was born April 28, 1922 in Lancaster County, a son of the late Hugh C. Baker and Minnie Faile Baker and was the husband of the late Margaret Ballard Baker of 69 years, whom he loved dearly. Mr. Baker retired from Springs Industries as an Electrician. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 and the Jackson Shrine Club. Mr. Baker was a founding and honorary member of the Belltown Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his Lodge buddies, farming, golfing and traveling. He was a great husband, father and friend. Mr. Baker loved his church, Grace Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ballard Baker; a daughter, Alice Rena Snipes; a son, James Kenneth Baker; and a brother, George W. Baker.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Baker will be 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Grace Presbyterian Church by Rev. Marty Simmons, Rev. Russ Wimmer and Rev. Della Hunsucker. Burial will follow at Camp Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service and other times at Mr. Bakers home. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 1026 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720.
