LANCASTER, SC – William Ricky Lee Starr climbed the "Stairway to Heaven", said "Mama, I'm coming home" and is now "So far Away". Ricky passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, a date that those close to him would know and would enthusiastically share with Chester Bennington. Born in Lancaster, SC on June 4, 2004, he was the youngest son of Johnny Paul Starr I and Laura Jane Starr, "Mama Jane". He was the baby of the family whose siblings would consistently, though affectionately, remind him of it. His love for music, unbridled passion and talent for playing guitar was very well known by his family and friends. He was an avid gamer, lover of animals, and collector of colognes. Ricky was always the one to bring the much-needed lightheartedness and humor to every somber or tense situation with quick witted one liners or hilarious and fictitious suggestions. He was very excited in the prospect of becoming a father in September to a baby boy and a husband to the love of his life later in the year, Madison McManus of Lugoff, SC.

Along with Madison and their soon to be son, Ozzy Ricky Lee Starr, he is survived by his father, Johnny Paul Starr I of Lancaster, SC; his two sisters, Amy Willhite (Jesse) and Emma Willhite; and his two brothers, Greg Horton (Ann) and Johnny Paul Starr II (Sarah).

Mr. Starr was predeceased by his mother Laura "Jane" Starr; a sister, April Willhite; and a brother, Andrew Willhite.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Ricky will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Springhill Baptist Church in Lancaster, SC. Burial to follow at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery, next to his mom. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, July 25, 2025, at Burgess Funeral Home.

It is asked by the family to wear a black, red, or band tee shirt to both the visitation and service in honor of Ricky's favorite colors and immense love for music.
