INDIAN LAND, SC – Richard "Ricky" Franklin Hunter, Jr., age 46, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023. He was born, July 10, 1977, in Charlotte, NC, a son of Gail Shepard Hunter-Hill and the late Richard Franklin Hunter, Sr. Ricky was a sports fanatic, and avid UNC Tar Heels basketball fan. He idolized Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Dean Smith. Ricky was inquisitive, curious, and very much a truth seeker. He enjoyed nature, being outdoors, fishing, and animals, especially fond of bears and lions.  Ricky loved children and babies and was called "Uncle Ricky" by all his friends' children. He was especially close and proud of his niece and two nephews. He had a huge self-less heart, passionate and protective, and always wanted to take care of everyone.

Ricky is survived by his mother, Gail Hunter-Hill (Jimmy); his brother, Scott Hunter (Danielle); his sister, Lyndsey Erin Hunter Kissiah; his niece and nephews, Lauren Hunter, Ryan Hunter, Aaron Kissiah, and fur nephew, Norman Kissiah; his best friend for over 40 years, Kenny Carver; his special cousin, Courtney Davis; and many other special aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hunter Sr.; his maternal grandparents, William and Marilyn Shepard; his paternal grandparents, Christine and John Frank Hunter; and his fur baby, Dutchess.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am – 12:00pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Burgess Funeral Home.
