HEATH SPRINGS, SC ~ Mr. Donald Richard "Rick" Gowan, Jr., age 61, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 surrounded by his family.  He was born March 7, 1958 in Anderson, SC, a son of Donald Richard Gowan, Sr. and Sybil Ford Gowan and was the husband of Sherry Catoe Gowan.  Rick loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  He was self-employed as a hunting guide.  Rick loved his family and all the time they spent together, especially his time with his granddaughter, Taelor.

Rick is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sherry Gowan; his son, Tyler Gowan and his girlfriend, Jenna Miller; his parents, Don and Sybil Gowan; his granddaughter, Taelor Gowan; two brothers, Stacey Gowan and Sean Gowan; and three very special hunting and fishing buddies, Billy Sowell, Robert Mielke, and Rick Baker.

Rick is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Roey Gowan; his maternal grandparents, Roy and Clara Ford; and an aunt, Betty Ford.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720 and other times at the home of Rick's son, Tyler.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Palmetto Region, PO Box 470408, Charlotte, NC 28247.
