March 8, 1950 - December 23, 2024 Richard Berle Moore, age 74, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was born on March 8, 1950, to his late parents, Robert R. Moore and Betty B. Tanner.
Richard is survived by his beloved daughter, Kristen R. Todd, and his cherished granddaughters, Dalia Todd-Perez, Regan Todd, and Charlotte Todd. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Pauline Lattimer, and his brothers, Donald Moore, Thomas Moore, and James Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Robert Moore and Jean Ann Leemaster, and the mother of his daughter, Carolyn Ann Moore.
Richard's life was one of service and dedication. He proudly served in the United States Army for 25 years, completing three tours in the Vietnam War. He retired as a Sergeant First Class, receiving numerous medals and accolades for his selfless service. Richard continued his work for the U.S. government with the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon, before spending 20 years working for the U.S. Postal Service, where he became known for his thoughtful gesture of bringing treats for every dog on his route. In addition to his distinguished career, Richard was known for his generosity to his friends and neighbors. Richard had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and took great joy in feeding the wildlife around his home. He was a passionate and informed political thinker, with a remarkable memory that made him a captivating storyteller. His thoughtful insights and wise counsel were sought by those fortunate enough to know him. Richard had an incredible sense of humor that could light up any room. His infectious laugh was unforgettable, and he had a knack for making everyone around him laugh. His wit and humor were a reflection of his joyful spirit. A man of deep faith, Richard dedicated his life to serving others and maintained a meaningful relationship with God. He prayed at every meal and was incredibly proud to have read the Bible cover to cover. He was a supporter of charitable causes and contributed generously to many organizations throughout his life. Richard's love for his family was immeasurable, and he shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings. His love for his daughter and granddaughters was fierce and unconditional, and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
