INDIAN LAND, SC::::::::::Mr. Richard Joseph Knox, age 69, died peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Harris Hospice at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. He was born April 30, 1944 in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Margaret Hanley Knox and the late Forest Knox. Mr. Knox retired from the Star Ledger in Newark, NJ and served in the United States Navy. He was a graduate of Somerset County College, and an avid follower of NJ High School Basketball, especially St. Anthony's High School and St. Benedict's Prep. He also enjoyed World Travel.

Mr. Knox is survived by his mother; Margaret Hanley Knox of Seacacus, NJ; his life partner, Emily Miller of Indian Land SC; Barbara Knox of Bedminster, NJ, the mother of his children; a son, Richard Knox, Jr. of Bethlehem, PA; a daughter, Tasha Wallace of Claymont, DE; a brother, James Knox of Bayonne, NJ; a sister, Maryann McGough of Long Island, NY; and two grandchildren, Dylan Knox and Jaycee Walker.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Knox will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Father Agustin Guzman. Friends may visit an hour before the service.
