LANCASTER, SC ~ Richard Scott Joe McAteer, age 47, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born January 7, 1970 in Lancaster, a son of the late Bobby Ray McAteer and Hilda Kay Faulkenberry McAteer. Richard was self-employed. He was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and playing video games.

Richard is survived by a sister, Melissa Missy Williams and her husband, Michael Chewy of Heath Springs; two brothers, Wade McAteer and his wife, Terri and Charles Ray McAteer both of Lancaster; five aunts, his guardian angel, Aunt Faye Murphy, Dot Knight, Nancy Faulkenberry, Francis Parris all of Lancaster and Linda McAteer of Heath Springs; an uncle, Kenneth Faulkenberry and his wife, Rosemary of Rock Hill; and his best friend, Donnie Small of Lancaster.

The Family will hold a private memorial service for Richard at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or Zion United Methodist Church, 1665 Zion Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
