FORT MILL, SC ~ Richard Lawrence Gattola, 71, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Atrium Health-Pineville.   He was born May 26, 1948 in Orange, New Jersey, a son of the late Anthony Gattola and Nancy Renna Gattola and was the husband of Linda Sbarbari Gattola.  Richard served our country in the United State Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.  He loved gardening, movies, watching the Knight's Baseball games and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  Richard loved his beloved family, his beloved friends, and of course, his beloved cat Cocoa.  He was of the Catholic faith.

Richard is survived by his wife of 39 ½  years, Linda Gattola; his nieces and nephews, Lisa Moschello of Highland Park, NJ and her children, Benjamin and Alexander, Lori Vanvalkenburg and husband, Jimmy of Toms River, NJ and their children, Jimmy and Jake, and Anthony Moschello and wife, ToniAnn of Manahawkin, NJ and their daughter, Natalie; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Gattola of Jackson, NJ.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred Gattola and a sister, Delores Moschello.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Gattola will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 7, 2019 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Larry Helm.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 6437 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC  29209 or online at www.dav.org .
