Obituary

INDIAN LAND, SC ~ Richard Paul Bartlett, age 69, passed away on May 4, 2021 at Hospice House in Charlotte, NC.  Richard was born on July 13, 1951 in Hackensack, NJ. He was the son of the late George F. Bartlett and Miriam L Bartlett.  Richard was widowed in 1991 and was married to Meryl Schneider. Richard lived in Paramus, NJ when he was growing up. When he graduated high school, he went to Michigan State University in Michigan.  He majored in Business and Japanese.  All during his life, Richard played the guitar, sang, and wrote music, and formed musical groups in college and afterwards.

When he graduated college, he worked at several jobs but eventually formed, Baron Packaging Company in New Jersey. He owned Baron Packaging, which was a distributing company, and only retired in 2007. All his adult life Richard was playing music with several groups and performed at clubs and other venues. He wrote and arranged music for other groups for many years. Music was always his first love.

Richard was also an avid golfer for many years and enjoyed playing with friends and family. He moved from New Jersey to North Carolina about 15 years ago to be closer to his sister, Patricia Maher. Before he moved to Sun City Carolina Lakes in Indian Land, SC he lived in Spencer, North Carolina to be near his best friend and fellow musician, Jimm Mosher. Jimm owns a music and recording studio and together Richard and Jimm spent many years writing, recording, and arranging music. A number of songs were recorded by popular groups. Richard also wrote music for a movie called Hearts in Carolina.

Richard is survived by his sister, Patricia Maher; two nephews, Brian, and Dustin; one niece, Kimberly; and three great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.

A Celebration of Life will take place later this Spring at a date and time to be determined. Internment will take place at a columbarium in Salisbury, NC at a later date.
