LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Rex Morrison Griffin, age 70, passed away Wednesday March 19, 2025. He was born February 23, 1955, a son of the late Rance Morrison Griffin and the late Peggy Laney Griffin and was the loving husband of Emogene Clifton Griffin. Rex was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed building and collecting model cars. He was a fantastic carpenter who could build or make anything, and he was also a great mechanic who loved working on cars. Rex enjoyed going to the beach, was quick-witted, funny, and was great at writing. Family was most important to him, and he loved spending time with family and friends. Emogene was the love of his life, and he was very considerate, romantic and loving to her and spoiled her rotten. Rex had many lifelong friends who he always enjoyed getting together with. He was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.

Rex is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Emogene Griffin; son, Shannon Allen; granddaughter, Kylee Allen and her mother, Kristy Harvell; brother, Rhett Griffin (Sandra); sister, Tammy Barton (Steve); brothers-in-law, Russell Clifton (Linda Sue), Stan Mehrhoff, and Junior Carr; sisters-in-law, Wilma Stevens (Buckshot), Wanda Mehrhoff, and Barbara Ann Kohl; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Cindi Hayes and Myra Lynn Griffin; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Nellie Laney; paternal grandparents, John Oscar and Paris Griffin; parents-in-law, Erskin and Faye Clifton; and sister-in-law, Linda Clifton Carr.

The Celebration of Life Service for Rex will be 3:00 pm Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Spring Hill Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Brad Threatt.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, one hour prior to the service, in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Spring Hill Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2245 Old Camden Monroe Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720.
