LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Ret. SR. MSGT Dallas Sims, age 78, of 2486 Oxford Place, died Sunday morning, November 2, 2008 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born February 4, 1930 in Lancaster County, the son of Crinder Mungo Sims and the late Edward Sims and was the husband of Naomi Helms Sims. Mr. Sims, Retired Senior Master Sergeant, served our great country in the United States Air Force; was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church where he had served as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Elder. Mr. Sims was survived by his wife of 30 years, Naomi Helms Sims of the home, his mother, Crinder Sims, a sister Ann Lou Helms and her husband M.T. of Lancaster, step-children, Janice Duncan and her husband Chris, Larry Blackwell and his wife Jan both of Lancaster, and Mark Blackwell and his wife Clarice of Alpharetta, GA, 3 grandchildren, Melanie Mancuso and her husband Piere, Heather Blackwell and Lauren Blackwell, and 3 great grandchildren, Matthew, Lukas, and Hannah Mancuso. Mr. Sims was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Blackwell and sister, Margie McManus.The Celebration of Life Military Funeral Service for Mr. Sims will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Grace Presbyterian Church by Rev. Russ Wimmer; burial with Military Honors to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Sims will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday evening, November 3, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Matt Blackwell Foundation, PO Box 188, Lancaster SC 29721.
