LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Reece Simpson Kirk, age 83, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021 at his home.  He was born December 26, 1937, in Lancaster, a son of the late Robert "Bob" Thomas Kirk and Faye Hammond Kirk, and was the loving husband of Shirley Harper Kirk.  Reece enjoyed working on his farm and tending to his cows and turkeys.  He loved his community and all his friends.  Reece never met a stranger, he modeled loving and treating everyone equally; to know him was to love him.  His family was most important to him, and he loved them all dearly.  Reece loved the Lord, and he was a faithful member of Rich Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and in many other capacities the majority of his life. He modeled Christ-like character in all he did. Reece was an avid farmer. Early in his career, he was awarded Lancaster County Young Farmer of the Year. Throughout Reece's farming career, he served on many boards including: Farm Service Agency (FSA), S.C. Farm Bureau, and Soil and Water Conservation. Mr. Kirk was also an active member of the S.C. Cattlemen's Association.

Reece is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Kirk; his son, David Kirk (Meredith); his daughter, Laura K. Joyner (Charles); eight grandchildren, Richard Joyner, Dylan Joyner, Mary Beth Mungo (Zach), Brady Kirk, Kenley Kirk, Bryce Phillips, David "Reece" Kirk, Jr, and Sam Kirk; two great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Mungo, and Elliott Mungo; a brother, Dennis S. Kirk (Nadine); and a sister, Nancy K. Starnes.

Reece was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William "Billy" T. Kirk, and Tommy Kirk; and a brother-in-law, David Ward Starnes.

The Celebration of Life Service for Reece will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Rich Hill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Shelton Greene.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
