Obituary

LANCASTER, SC – Mr. William "Ray" Crimminger, Sr., age 92, passed away January 22, 2025. He was born June 26, 1932, in Lancaster, SC, son of the late Chalmers Hoyt Crimminger and the late Mary Jane Elisabeth Johnson Crimminger and was the loving husband of Marlene Flowers Wilson Crimminger. Mr. Crimminger proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He and Marlene were owners and operators of Sears Merchant Store. Mr. Crimminger enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard, going to the grandchildren's ball games, and traveling with Christian Tours where he and Marlene were able to visit every state in America. He was a Cub scout Leader and a member of the Kershaw Lions Club and Kershaw Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Crimminger was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where he and Marlene were very active in the Golden Agers.

Mr. Crimminger is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marlene Crimminger; son, Rick Crimminger (Joyce); two daughters, Midenna Anderson (Norman) and Jennifer Cauthen (Farris); five grandchildren, Chris Crimminger (Chanda), Brittany Price (Kyle), Will Anderson (Megan), Emily Jaillette (Burton), and Sam Williford; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Willene Gardner (Lynn) and Marcene Neal; a very special niece, Kathy Johnson; and a large extended family.

Mr. Crimminger is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Dixon; grandchild, Alex Williford; his parents; four sisters, Mildred Kennington, Helen Hinson, Mary Lynn Faulkenberry, and Nellie Ann Bradley; and four brothers-in-law, Frank Neal, Rod Kennington, Johnny Hinson, and Bob Faulkenberry.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Crimminger will be 3:00 pm Friday, January 24, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Eddie Usher. Burial will follow at St. Luke UMC Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catawba Area Council of Aging, 2051 Ebenezer Rd. Ste B., Rock Hill, SC 29732 or Hospice of Lancaster and the Piedmont, 901 W Meeting Street, Suite 104, Lancaster, SC 29720.
