LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. Ralph Sowell, age 84, of 2615 Flat Creek Road died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at CMC in Pineville, NC. He was born July 23, 1926 in Kershaw, a son of the late Robert Sowell and Ella Inez Johnson Sowell and was the husband of Ruth Phillips Sowell. Mr. Sowell retired from Springs Industries - Lancaster Plant after 44 years, was a Master Mason and Life Member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53, a member of Antioch Baptist Church and served our great country in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Sowell is survived by his wife, Ruth Phillips Sowell of the home, a daughter Beverly Sowell Montgomery and her husband Jim of Charlotte, NC, 2 grandchildren Zachery James Montgomery and Anna Ruth Montgomery, and 2 sisters; Evelyn Horton of Kershaw and Bobbie Catoe and her husband Lee of Columbia. Mr. Sowell was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Hazel Sowell and J.T. Sowell and a sister, Mae Roberts.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Sowell will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Antioch Baptist Church by Rev. Trent McLaughlin and Rev. Chris Blackmon. Burial with Masonic rites will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Sowell will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, Monday, June27, 2011 at Hartley Funeral Home and the family suggests memorials to Antioch Baptist Church, 3052 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster, S.C. 29720.
