LANCASTER, SC ~ Polly Ellis Bailey, age 78, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at her home.  She was born December 6, 1942, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Ohner Ellis and Ailene James Ellis.  Mrs. Bailey was the best mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother you could ask for.  She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and also with her dog, Mary. She was a great gospel singer and was a member of Lynwood Drive Church of God.

Polly is survived by her daughter, Teresa Garris and her husband, Walt; a son, Andrew Lee Bailey and his wife, Renee; three grandchildren, Jessica Tufano, Dylian Bailey and Johnathan Bailey; five great grandchildren, Marshall, Beckham, Natalie, Kohen and Ava; and her special friend, Rachel Foster.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gerald Wayne Bailey; and her siblings, Mildred Lewis, Lewis Ellis, Douglas Ellis, Frances Goins, Billy Ellis and Jimmy Ellis.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Polly will be 11:00 am Friday, June 18, 2021, at Lynwood Drive Church of God officiated by Rev. Marty Foster, Rev. Clyde Hardin and Rev. Jimmy Lambert.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday evening, June 17, 2021, at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Stroke Foundation, 701 Grove Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or Lynwood Drive Church of God, 2138 Lynwood Drive, Lancaster, SC  29720.

The family would like to especially thank her caregiver, Stephanie Truesdale, for the love and care she gave to her.
