LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Phyllis Jean Ford Proffitt, age 84, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at MUSC Health- Lancaster Medical Center.  She was born August 23, 1934 in Mooresville, NC, the daughter of the late John Dee Ford and Beatrice Harris Ford.  Mrs. Proffitt was the wife of the late Joseph E. Proffitt. She loved to cook, sew, crochet, quilt and cross-stitch.  Mrs. Proffitt also enjoy word seek puzzles and reading.  She was a member of the Eastern Star and Lancaster First ARP Church.

Mrs. Proffitt is survived by two daughters; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Eugene Ford of Fallon, NV; and her friends.

Mrs. Proffitt was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Joe; a daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Ann Blackmon; her parents; and a brother, Leonard Ray Ford.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Proffitt will be 11:00 am Thursday, June 13, 2019 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC officiated by Rev. Wayne Dickson.  Burial will follow at New Cut Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
