Obituary

INDIAN LAND, SC – Mr. Peter Joseph Casarsa, age 104, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022. He was born September 3, 1917, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, a son of the late Dominic Casarsa and Albina Marchetti Casarsa and was the husband of the late Elizabeth Lavasseur Casarsa. Mr. Casarsa owned and operated his own general contracting company. He was an excellent golfer and won the club championship in Buffalo, NY, was President of Lancaster Country Club in Buffalo, and was a member of the Imperial Country Club in Naples, FL. Mr. Casarsa loved watching tennis and football and was a Charter Member of the Buffalo Bills Stadium in Orchard Park. In later years, he became an expert at jigsaw puzzles. Even though, he was not a war veteran, Mr. Casarsa built P40, P51, P18, and C46 war planes. He regretted that he did not serve but did his part in the war effort. Mr. Casarsa attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Mr. Casarsa is survived by his daughter, Jane Casarsa; two grandchildren, Laura Fitch (Jeffrey) and Jon Cosentino; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Fitch, Lilly Fitch, and Charlie Cosentino; and his brother, Rudy Casarsa.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Karen Cosentino; his parents; and three sisters.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Casarsa will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2022 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC.
