LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Peggy Joyce Edwards Pilgrim, age 90, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023. She was born April 2, 1933, in Chester, SC, a daughter of the late Claude Casey Edwards and the late Lillian Carter Edwards and was the wife of the late Joseph Thomas Pilgrim. Mrs. Pilgrim retired from Springs Industries Grace Bleachery. She loved gardening, and always had a community garden. Mrs. Pilgrim also enjoyed reading romance novels, going on cruises, taking care of and swimming in her swimming pool, and being very active in various Senior Citizen Groups. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pilgrim is survived by three children, Thomas Pilgrim, Sue Thomas, and Melanie Williams, and her husband Kevin, all of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Rilie Williams, Amanda Leonard, and her husband Jason, and Ash McKinney; one great-granddaughter, Emily Leonard; and her brother, Eugene Edwards, and his wife, Reba.

Mrs. Pilgrim was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Pilgrim; her daughter, Ann Stalls; her parents, Claude and Lillian Edwards; her brother, Bobby Joe Edwards; and her sister, Carolyn Edwards Melvin.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Pilgrim will be 3:00 pm Thursday, April 27, 2023, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Kevin Williams. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, Iowa 50037-0839 .
