LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Peggy Mobley Johnson, age 94, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Wayne T. Patrick House in Rock Hill. She was born February 16, 1928 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Martin Everette Mobley and Lucille Small Mobley and was the wife of the late Jack Johnson.  Mrs. Johnson was a great cook in her younger years. She was very family oriented, loved spending time with all her family, sneaking money to the grandchildren and taking them shopping. She always asked about her eight great grandchildren, and she had a special love for them. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her two daughters, Jackie Clark, and Debbie Gillis; two granddaughters, Kristi Hill and her husband, Russell, and Kathryn Catoe and her husband, Wesley; and eight great-grandchildren, Gracie, Erin, Noah, Britain, Everett, Jack, Emma Klair, and Rhett.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Jack Johnson; her parents, Martin and Lucille Mobley; her brother, John William Mobley; and her two sisters, Jean Mobley Addison, and Laura Mobley Catoe.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Johnson will be 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Marty Simmons. Private burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00pm one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Wayne T. Patrick House, 2275 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to Grace Presbyterian Church, 1026 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Springhill Assisted Living, Lancaster Health & Rehabilitation, and Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House for the outstanding love and care that was shown to Mrs. Johnson.
