LANCASTER, SC:::::::: Mrs. Peggy Bowers Blackmon, age 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 21, 2015. She was born January 31, 1939 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Ercel Lee Bowers and Sarah Gertrude Adams Bowers. She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Johnny Ray Sheppard. She was later married to the late Heath Funderburk and the late Chalmers Blackmon. Mrs. Blackmon had worked in retail sales and was a member of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church.

Mrs. Blackmon is survived by two sons; Robert L. Sheppard and his wife Penny of Anderson, SC and Timothy P. Sheppard and his wife Robin of Monroe, NC, two sisters, Marion Phillips of Kershaw and Barbara Hegler of Lancaster, eight grandchildren, Dustin, Ryan, Nikki, Daniel, Johnny, Joshua and Caleb Sheppard, Dana Blackwell and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Blackmon was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Allen Sheppard and Johnathan Ray Sheppard, a daughter, Dale Lynn Sheppard and a brother, Raeford Bowers.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Blackmon will be 2:00 pm, Friday, April 24, 2015 at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church by Rev. Todd Montgomery with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday evening, April 23, 2015 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster and suggest memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, 3795 Pleasant Plain Road, Kershaw, SC 29067.
