LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Peggy Walters Baker, age 79, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Rice Estates in Columbia. She was born September 28, 1934 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Ira Lee Walters and Pernie Parker Walters and was the wife of Norman R. Baker. Mrs. Baker served as church secretary for Camp Creek Baptist Church and also retired as cashier with Catawba Fish Camp. She was also a member of Camp Creek Church where she active with Sunday school and VBS.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband, Norman R. Baker of Columbia, a son, Joel A. Baker and his wife Dianne of Lancaster, a daughter, Rhonda B. Gibson and her husband Ernie of Columbia, a daughter-in-law, Frances Baker of Lancaster, a sister, Louise McIntire of Troy, NC, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Dean Baker and Richard Wayne Baker.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mrs. Baker will be 11:30 am, Friday, January 24, 2014 at Lancaster Memorial Park by Rev. Don Waldrop and Rev. Randy Mellichamp.
The Family of Mrs. Baker will receive friends at Burgess Funeral Home from 10:30 am - 11:15 am Friday, January 24, 2014. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to American Heart Association, or Parkinson's Association of the Carolina's or Benzi Rice Home in Columbia, SC.
