LANCASTER, SC ~ Patricia "Patti" Louise Hutchison, age 64, passed away on July 21, 2022.  She was born on December 30, 1957, to Robert and Marguerite "Peg" Hutchison. She grew up in Butler, PA, earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in education, and spent her career teaching special education to all ages of children. After retirement, she began writing for educational websites and authored several children's books, including many non-fiction books for The Child's World, Focus Readers and 12 Story Library publishing companies and articles for Highlights for Children magazine.

Patti loved her family more than anything. She and her husband Bruce were married on August 28, 1982 and raised their three children in Cattaraugus County in New York. She taught her children how to love unconditionally, and she and Bruce modeled a loving, beautiful marriage.

After their children were grown, Patti and Bruce moved to Lancaster, South Carolina, where they joined St. Catherine's Catholic parish. Patti enjoyed being part of the Lady's Guild and made lifelong friends with Table 37 during her time as a parishioner at St. Catherine's. Faith was a deep and meaningful part of Patti's life. Aside from her family and her faith, Patti loved to travel. In her lifetime, she visited forty-nine states, only missing North Dakota. She enjoyed taking cruises and loved the beach. Her favorite place to visit was Grand Bahamas Island, where she and her family spent several memorable vacations.

Patti was a private person, never wanting to be in the spotlight, but she was always there for anyone who needed her. She was a faithful friend and confidant. Soft spoken and quick with a smile, she brought joy to everyone she knew.

Patti is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bruce; her children Kate (Lance), Lisa (John), and Leon (Robin); her grandchildren, Andrew, Amira (Christian), Noah, and Emily; her brother Robert (Lucy), her mother-in-law, Barbara; brothers-in-law Dale (Marlene) and Chris (Lynn), and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents; and father-in-law, Leon J. Hutchison.

A Funeral Mass for Patti will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, St. Catherine Catholic Church officiated by Father Javier Heredia.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday evening at the Church Hall at St. Catherine.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Missionaries of the Poor, 3 North Street Kingston, Jamaica, WI ( https://missionariesofthepoor.org/mop-secure-donations ), or Lancaster County Public Library, 313 S.
