Obituary

HEATH SPRINGS, SC ~ Patricia Ann Vinson Haile Ammons, 84, a beloved matriarch and lifelong resident of the Lancaster area, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

Born in Chester County, SC, on January 3, 1941, Patricia was the daughter of the late Ora Vinson and the late Lottie Mae Robinson Vinson. She built a life around service and simple pleasures, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. For over 20 years, Patricia was a dedicated beautician, bringing joy and confidence to her clients. Her compassionate spirit later guided her to a role as a nursing assistant and hairdresser at the Lancaster Convalescent Center, where she cared for residents with remarkable tenderness. She also shared her warm personality as a sales associate for Belk.

Patricia lived a life rich in contentment, finding joy in the simple beauties of the world. She had an immense love for people, flowers, birds, and dogs. A lover of the outdoors, she cherished moments spent sitting by the fire pit, cooking for her family, and camping by the river. Her garden and home were testaments to her vibrant spirit and love for life's quiet moments.

Patricia is survived by a legacy of love carried on by her three sons: Andrew Ora Ammons of Heath Springs, David Myron Haile (Sharon) of Lancaster, and Charles Larry Ammons, Jr (Misty) of Kershaw; and her daughter, Freda Lynn Haile of Charlotte, NC. She was a cherished grandmother to four grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Peggy Lou Walden of West Jefferson, NC, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Larry Ammons, Sr; her parents; two brothers, Bobby Joe Vinson and William Cleo Vinson; and two sisters, Lucy Mae Hood and Christine Lois Walden.

A Celebration of Patricia's remarkable life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. The family invites friends to gather and reminisce during a visitation from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. The burial will follow the service at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.
