IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrecia
Wood
September 17, 1938 – May 4, 2025
ROCK HILL, SC ~ Mrs. Patrecia "Pat" Jeane Littrell Wood, age 86, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025 at White Oak Manor – Rock Hill. She was born on September 17, 1938, a daughter of the late William Littrell and the late Jeane Lindy Littrell and was the loving wife of the late Colonel Harry Fowler Wood, Jr. USAF (ret.). Pat lived a life marked by devotion, grace and quiet strength.
Patrecia was born in Cheney, KS, the daughter of a wildcat oil driller and his school teacher wife. When her father was hired by USAID to drill water wells in Ethiopia for Emperor Haile Selassie I, she left college to join them and worked in foreign aid operations over two years. She met her future husband, Harry, there. He was an Air Force navigator flying the embassy routes through the middle east out of Riyadh Saudi Arabia. They were married in Ethiopia and also Athens Greece while returning home. She and her husband spent 27 ½ years in the Air Force before retiring, and she supported him and their two children through the Cold War and Viet Nam, sometimes alone 6 months at a time while he was deployed to Guam.
After Harry's retirement, they moved to Huntsville, AL where she worked as the assistant to the Director of NASA's space station program through the entire design and development of that system. Her professional achievement reflected her intelligence, poise, and strong work ethic. Pat and Harry retired to Florida after several stints of public service and eventually moved to Rock Hill, SC to be with her daughter in her later years. Pat spent her last years in Rock Hill's White Oak Nursing Facility.
Pat is survived by her son-in-law, Jeff Reiter; her granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Campbell (Ben); and her two great-granddaughters, Mckenzie Alexis Campbell, and Reagan Madison Campbell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Harry Fowler Wood, Jr. USAF (ret.); her two children, Harry Fowler Wood, III, and Renée Reiter; her parents, William and Jean Littrell; and her brother, Odie Littrell. Pat's legacy is one of unwavering love, resilience, and service. She will be deeply remembered for the enduring support of her family and grace in the face of life's many journeys.
