LANCASTER, SC – Pastor Danny Clayton Johnson, age 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, May 20, 2024. He was born November 24, 1952, in Lancaster, a son of Frances McMurray Phifer and the late George Alexander Johnson and was the husband of Barbara Ellen Anderson Johnson. Pastor Danny proudly pastored Heartland Baptist Church for 17 years. He retired from Pepsi Cola in 2007. Gospel music, trips to Mt. Airy, NC, Preaching and Worshiping, and spending time with his family was just a few things he loved to do. Pastor Danny was an avid Gamecock fan.

Pastor Danny is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Johnson; his daughter, Stephanie J. Roberts (James); grandchildren, Dannon E. Roney, Chase W. Roberts, and Eric J. Roberts; his mother, Frances Phifer (John); his sister, Billie Ann McIntyre (James); and very close friend, Hugh Baine.

He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Johnson.

The Celebration of Life Service for Pastor Danny will be 3:00 pm Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Antioch Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Trent McLaughlin and Pastor Chuck Evans. Burial will follow at New Cut Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm, prior to the service, at the church. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Heartland Baptist Church, 1433 Camp Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.
