LINCOLNTON, NC ~ Mrs. Pamela “Pam” Hinson Wood, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 2, 1956, in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Malcolm Richard Hinson and the late Joanne Faile Hinson and was the loving and devoted wife of George Ambos Wood.
Pam was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and cherished friend whose love and kindness touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresville, North Carolina, where her strong faith in God was an important part of who she was. She was a true Christian woman who lived her faith through the way she loved and served others.
Pam had a true servant’s heart and could often be found checking on those around her. She was deeply empathetic and compassionate, always willing to lend a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply offer a word of encouragement when someone needed it most. Her caring nature extended far beyond her immediate family, and she had a special way of making people feel loved, valued, and remembered.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially gardening, baking, and cooking. She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in preparing meals for the people she loved. Her kitchen was often a place where family gathered, memories were made, and love was shared around the table.
Family meant everything to Pam. She cherished her role as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, and aunt, and she loved her nieces and nephews as though they were her own children. To them, she was more than an aunt, she was a second grandmother, a source of love, comfort, wisdom, and unconditional support. Her family will forever treasure the countless memories of her laughter, her energy, her beautiful personality, and the love she so freely gave.
Pam was full of life and had a personality that could light up any room. She brought energy and warmth wherever she went and never met a stranger. She also took pride in always looking her very best, carrying herself with confidence and grace no matter where life took her.
Above all, Pam will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering faith, compassion for others, and the beautiful way she made people feel cared for. Her presence was a gift to her family and all who knew her, and although she will be deeply missed, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those who loved her most.
Pam is survived by her husband of 46 years; George Wood; her son, Andrew Wood; her three siblings, Cheryl Hinson Bass, Rick Hinson (Carolyn), and David Hinson (Lisa); numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; her aunt, Becky Neal; her brothers-in-law, Rev. Herbert L. Wood (Anne), and Vince Exley; her two sisters-in-law, Barbara Wood Briggs, and Caren Wood Frye (Steve); her cherished and beloved dog, Molly; and many special family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Bass, and Dick Briggs; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Wood Exley.
Throughout her long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, Pam was blessed with the devoted love and unwavering care of her husband and son. They lovingly stood by her side, providing comfort, strength, support, and compassionate care each step of the way. Their dedication to her well-being was a beautiful reflection of the deep love they shared with her. Through every challenge, they remained by her side, making sure she was never alone and surrounding her with love. Pam was blessed to have such devoted caregivers, and her family will always be grateful for the countless ways her husband and son cared for, supported, and cherished her throughout her journey.
The Celebration of Life Service for Pam will be at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Cliff Henson. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home.
