LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Ottie Blackwell Stogner, age 89, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte. She was born May 22, 1928 in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late William Buford Blackwell and Sally Faye McNeely Blackwell and was the wife of the late Clarence Super Alan Stogner. Mrs. Stogner retired from the Lancaster Telephone Company. She enjoyed her Bible study class at Brookdale where she was a resident and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Stogner is survived by a daughter, Diane Stogner Blackmon and her husband, Harold of Charlotte; a grandson, Derek Blackmon; two great-granddaughters, Dylan and Aydan Blackmon; and one sister, Edith Threatt of Lancaster.
Mrs. Stogner was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Nay Blackwell, Clyde Blackwell and Harold Blackwell; and four sisters, Myrtis Laney, Bennie Blume, Bronna Ackerman and Kerried Miller.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Stogner will be 3:00 pm Monday, October 23, 2017 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Chris Blackmon. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Memory Center of Charlotte, 300 Billingsley Road, Suite 108, Charlotte, NC 28211 or the Alzheimers Association of SC, 140 Stonebridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210.
Our special thanks to Otties grandson, Derek Blackmon, and her nieces, Kathy Stepp and Janice Duncan for their love, support and care during her last days.
